About Jacob Bjelfvenstam – Photographer in Stockholm

Hi there, my name is Jacob Bjelfvenstam and I have been freelancing as a stills photographer in Stockholm for over ten years. In that time I have photographed most of what a city like this throws up: founders and board directors, conferences and product launches, restaurant kitchens in the middle of service, weddings on the beach, and a great many portraits of people who told me beforehand that they hate having their picture taken.

What I shoot

My work splits fairly evenly between four things. Corporate and business photography — headshots, team portraits and people at work, usually destined for a website, an annual report or a press release. Event photography — conferences, seminars, tastings and launches, where the job is to come away with a set that tells the story of the day. Food and restaurant photography, for menus, cookbooks and social media. And portraits and weddings, which are the most personal work I do.

If what you need is not on that list, ask anyway. Ten years of freelancing means most requests turn out to be a variation on something I have shot before.

How I work with clients

Every job starts with a conversation about what the pictures are actually for, because a headshot going onto a LinkedIn profile and one going into a full-page magazine spread are not the same photograph. Once I know that, I come back to you with a quote.

On the day I work quickly and stay out of the way — a conference should carry on as though I were not there. You can see images as we shoot and change direction on the spot. Afterwards I go through the take, edit the selects, and deliver files sized for whatever you need them for, print or screen. If you are in a hurry, unedited files can go over the same day.

Stockholm, and the rest of Sweden

I know every inch of Stockholm — the venues, the light, the spots that still work for portraits in the middle of winter — and I travel across the rest of the country regularly. When a shoot needs more than one person, I can put a crew of photographers, assistants and stylists together here at short notice.

Looking for video rather than stills? I also work as a freelance videographer in Stockholm — corporate video, events and interviews, for clients including WebMD, the BBC and the European Commission. See Cameraman Stockholm.

So, what's your story?

Let’s chat about how we can tell it in pictures. Get in touch and tell me what you have coming up.
